Genital warts – Is it for life


Genital warts is a sexually transmitted disease which is caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) There are more than 100 types. Type 6 and 11 are responsible for genital warts.
As the name suggest, genital warts affect the moist tissues of the genital area. Genital warts may look like small, flesh-colored bumps or have a cauliflower-like appearance. In many cases, the warts are too small to be visible.
In women, genital warts can grow on the vulva, the walls of the vagina, the area between the external genitals and the anus, and the cervix. In men, they may occur on the tip or shaft of the penis, the scrotum, or the anus. Genital warts can also develop in the month or throat of a person who has had oral sexual contact with an infected person.
Genital warts is not so bad as people think. It can be treated with proper treatment. It indicates cure if genital warts don’t recur within 1 year after removal. In such case, it is not contagious. But in case of spreading, condom is suggested during sex play. Patients with genital warts always worry it is for life. Actually, there is no need to worry too much. It is a disease which can be treated and people can live a happy life after treatment.
